June 23, 2020 – Congenital CMV was a completely unknown risk to Lisa & T.J. Robinson before they received the shocking diagnosis of severe fetal infection at 23 weeks into their second pregnancy. Because of early detection and access to excellent care and treatment options, their daughter, Georgia, was born much stronger than doctors predicted. Since experiencing their own journey with cCMV, the Robinsons have become determined to advocate for greater awareness, prevention, detection and management of cCMV. They are… Read more »

June 18, 2020 – It was such a pleasure speaking with William Jones about his family’s journey with CMV. William’s daughter, Francesca, was the first baby identified with CMV thanks to Ontario’s new screening program. The province recently became the first jurisdiction in the world to implement universal CMV screening. This means that every newborn is now tested for CMV! Early detection and intervention is crucial when it comes to CMV and hearing loss. It’s time to start screening in… Read more »
On August 15, 2018, our family welcomed Maeve to the world. I was induced at just over 41 weeks. It was an uncomplicated pregnancy and a smooth labour that had our sweet daughter in our arms just a few hours after being induced. As part of the normal newborn screening program in Ontario, Maeve had her hearing screening the morning after she was born. Our province provides universal newborn hearing screening to detect newborn babies with any potential permanent hearing… Read more »
After a mostly uneventful pregnancy, Grace came rushing into the world in the middle of the night in late November, 2012 at 38.5 weeks. My wife and I decided to have kids after being together for roughly 7 years. We had some difficulty getting pregnant, but after working with doctors, in 2013, Shauna and I were finally expecting. While Shauna did miscarry in 2013, we were able to get pregnant again soon thereafter. The funny thing is – even after the difficulties we had getting pregnant, we were both naïve thinking that once we were pregnant, everything would be fine and we would have a… Read more »
We found out that we were expecting a baby in January of 2016. Our due date was for September 2016. We were so excited! My pregnancy was going very well. I was hungry. Tired. Grumpy. But embracing my cute baby bump. On April 18, we went for our 20-week anatomy scan. To be honest, I wasn’t even concerned about not having a healthy baby. Everyone around me always had healthy babies. During the ultrasound, they found something and said they… Read more »
